North Sea thinkers

Morimaru, the ancient Celtic name for the North Sea, is a platform for people who are passionate about this historically rich and visually stunning swathe of ocean. Bringing together artists from the countries flanking the North Sea with scientists and historians, Morimaru is a multi-disciplinary project with research at its core.

Natalie McIlroy is a Scottish artist/curator based in The Hague, Netherlands. Natalie is interested in creating spaces in which heritage and contemporary art overlap. Over the years she has worked with various art & science initiatives and recently curated Saudade, a project which allowed ten artists to respond to a archival collection in The Hague resulting in a touring exhibition and accompanying publication. More information on this project can be found at

Morimaru is looking for collaborative partners to enable future research, exhibit/make new works or simply get together to share knowledge of the North Sea.
